Fall 2008 SCYSC Recreational Youth Soccer
Online Registration is now open!
Online registration is now open for the Fall 2008 Recreational Youth Soccer program and will remain open until July 15th.  After that, late registrations will be accepted until August 15th on a space available basis. A Walk-In registration will be held on June 28th at the Stanwood Public Library from 2 to 5pm.

How will I know when registration opens?
As usual, inforamtion about Fall Rec Soccer will be sent to the club membership via email.  In addition, flyers will be sent home with Elementary school children and will be available at the front desk for Middle school ages.  Last but not least, a banner will be posted on the High School fence with details.

What will the Registration Fees be?
At present, the registration fees look to be unchanged from the 2007 season (and 2006 season for that matter).  For Micros (U6-U8) - $55 and Rec (U9-U13) - $80.  It is unexpected, but please note that these numbers may change after the 2008 budget has been approved.

How old must a player be to participate?
SCYSC uses the Washington State Youth Soccer Association age chart for proper age division placement.  Players must be 5 years old prior to August 1st, 2008 in order to play in the U6 age division.  Play up requests will be considered on a case by case basis for players that wish to play in the next higher age division.  These requests must be received by July 15th for consideration.

Will there be a Stanwood Rec Team for U14 and older players?
In the past, we have been unable to field a Recreational team for U14 or older players.  This year, we will be looking to combine numbers with other clubs in our parent organization, Skagit Valley Youth Soccer Assocation to field teams in the U14 and above age group.  Practice locations will be arranged in a central location as best possible.  In the event that there is not enough interest to field a team, registration fees will be refunded in full.

When will games begin and how long will the season run?
Games are on Saturdays and will begin the first weekend after Labor Day in September which this year is September 6th.  The season will run 8 weeks, with the final game on October 25th.  Games for Micro teams (U6-U8) will be held at Heritage Park in Stanwood.  Games for Rec teams (U9 and older) will be held at various locations in the Skagit Valley area.

When, where and how many practices will there be?
Practices time, location and duration is left up to the coaches discretion.  As our coaches are volunteers, we allow them to set their practices details to accomodate the needs of the coach.  It is recommended that practices for Micro teams (U6-U8) be held at least once a week and run no longer than 1 hour.  For Rec teams (U9+), it is recommended that teams practice more than once a week.

What equipment will my child need?
All players will be provided a game jersey.  In addition, U9+ players will also receive shorts and socks.  Shin guards are not provided, but are required.  Beyond that, players are highly recommended to purchase soccer cleats and an age appropriate ball.  Last but not least, players should bring water bottles to games and practices.
