Rules for U8 Micro Soccer

The field size is 30 yards x 40 yards.

U8 use a size 3 ball.

The two goals are the small portable netted goals.

Teams play 3 vs 3 with one additional goal keeper.

After goal is scored, game is restarted with non-scoring team kicking off from the center spot.

No score is kept and an emphasis on having fun and playing the game is emphasized above winning.

Coach, assistant coach or parent referees games. Each team will referee 1/2 of the game unless otherwise agreed upon by both teams prior to game start.

Games consist of four 10 minute periods. There will be a 1 minute break between the 1st and 2nd period, and the 3rd and 4th period. There will be a 5 minute halftime break between the 2nd and 3rd period.

Players should rotate frequently, recommend every 2-3 minutes.

Game starts by kick off from center of field by team that wins coin toss. Ball must move forward before being touched by another player other than person initiating kick off.

All defenders should be 5 yards away from a kick off, corner kick and goal kick.

Throwers get one re-throw if the first throw in was incorrect.

All infringements to be punished by indirect free kick to other team (5 yards off ball by defense applies).
Definitions for Micro Soccer:
Throw in: Ball out of bounds over side lines = throw in.
Goal Kick: Ball across goal line by offense, but no goal scored = Goal Kick by defending team. (Ball on line, kicked into play by a defensive player.)
Corner Kick: Ball across goal line by defense = corner kick. (Offensive player takes ball to closest corner and brings ball into play by a kick)
Indirect Free Kick: Awarded for blatant fouls- pushing, tripping, catching the ball, etc. (Ball goes to other, placed at point of infraction. Ball must be passed (touched) by another player before a goal con be scored.)
Goal: Offensive team puts the entire ball across the goal line between the markers that identify the goal.
