General
I've registered... now what?
Near the end of July, coaches will be notified of their rosters
and will be asked to contact their players regarding practice time and location. U9 and
above teams will be notified first and U8 and below will follow. There is a possibility
that the coaches may not contact players until the the 1st or 2nd week of August.
When and where will practices be?
Practice schedule and location will be set by the coach.
We make every effort to form teams based on geographical location. This will hopefully
help with carpool situations as well as making the chance that practices will be held
closer to home more likely.
What is the process by which teams will be formed?
Players will be rostered to teams on a space available
basis using the following order. It is the intention of the club to keep
returning teams and coaches together whereever possible. While not all
special requests will be accomodated, the club will do our best to attempt to do
so. Given that SCYSC promotes recreational soccer, we will NOT allow teams
to be hand selected however we do understand that there are circumstances
including childcare and transportation which require consideration.
For returning teams (U7 and older)
- Returning Players who participated in the previous season
will be placed on the same team. Unless a special request by the player is
received to not be placed on the team.
- Special Request -
Team Reassignment,
players requesting to be reassigned will be added to a new team as space
permits. Requests for a specific team will be handled on a case by case
basis. Unfortunately, we may not be able to accomodate all special
requests.
- Newly Registered Players will be placed on teams per the
age chart as space permits.
- Special Request -
Play Up, players
requesting to play up, who have submitted the proper paperwork, postmarked
before July 1st, may be placed on a team as space permits.
- Late Registrations, players registered after July 1st will
be placed on teams as space permits. Players already placed in the
categories above will not be moved to accomodate the late registration.
Please Note that as the teams progress through the age divisions, the number of
players allowed on the roster increases. As needed, teams may be combined,
and potentially reshuffled to allow for the most number of players to
participate.
For new teams (U6), teams will be formed based upon the number of coaches.
We will attempt to keep teams organized according to home address and school
attendance. Late registrations will also be placed on teams as space
permits.

When will online registration open for the Fall 2011 Recreational teams?
Online registration will be open from May 1st to July
1st. Walk in registration will be available on June 4th between noon and 3pm,
and on June 25th between noon and 3pm, for those without Internet access. We would highly recommend that online registration be used though. The Stanwood Public Library also provides Internet Access to members with a Library card. Late registrations will be still accepted from July
1st - July 15th on a space available basis. There is a late registration fee for all registrations after July
1st.
Will my child be placed on the same team as the
previous season?
If both the coach and the player register on time, we will make every attempt to keep the team intact. If the coach does not return, we will look for another coach
in an attempt to keep the team together. If we are unable to find a coach, the players will be distributed across other teams. As with special requests, we do our best to accomodate each and every request however unfortunately we may not be able to in some circumstances. We appreciate your understanding.
I provided a certified copy of my child's birth certificate last year, do I need to provide another one?
No, if the player was previously registered and a birth certificate was provided, another copy will not be required. The exception to this would be if there is no record in the online registration system of a verified birth date. This will be addressed on a case by case situation. As a rule of thumb, return registrations do not need to provide another copy of the birth certificate unless specifically asked for by the Registrar.
What happens if I do not provide a birth certificate for my child?
If a birth certificate is not received, the player will not be eligible to participate in the season.
Is the registration refundable?
Yes, the registration is refundable prior to the first
game of the season, however there will be a $10 administrative fee charge when
processing the refund. Refunds will be based upon the following schedule. Dates
are determined by postmark of the request. Refund requests must be
submitted via mail to be considered.

Yes, this information can be retrieved automatically via the online registration site. If you are unsuccessful in this process, please send email to
registrar@scysc.com, providing as much information as possible to help us identify the associated user account. Additionally, please provide phone contact information so that we can contact you if needed to resolve the issue. As part of the process, we will ask for specific information to verify the request in order to protect private information.
Is it safe to use my credit card for online registrations?
Yes. The online registration website utilizes Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) encryption to ensure that sensitive data is transferred securely across the Internet. This is similar to security precautions used on most online banking and e-commerce sites.

Will any other documentation be accepted in place of the birth certificate?
Yes. A Passport or State issues ID will also be accepted as proof of age. The provided documentation must show the date of birth of the child participating.
Why do you need a certified copy of my child's birth certificate?
A certified copy of the child's birth certificate will provide proof of the child's date of birth and eligibility for registration within a particular age bracket. By providing a certified copy of the birth certificate, we can be assured that the document is a true copy of the original document. Considering the trouble required to obtain a birth certificate, we do not wish to be responsible for the original document.
How do I know my child's birth certificate will be kept private?
The birth certificate will be handled by volunteers who have been cleared by the Washington State Patrol. After the date of birth has been verified in the online registration system by the Registrar, the birth certificate will be shredded and securely disposed of. Please do not send original birth certificates, for this purpose, photo copies will suffice.
When will I know which team my child is on?
After the "on time" registration closes, the teams will be defined and the coaches will be notified of the players assigned to their team. At that point, it is the responsibility of the coach to contact the players and parents to notify them of practice and game schedules.
Is there a Family Discount for Multiple Players?
Yes. This year the SCSYSC Board has instituted a Family Discount for Multiple Players. For families registering 3 or more players, a $10 discount will be applied to 3rd and subsequent registrations. For example, a family registering 4 players would receive an overall savings of $20. $10 for the 3rd registration and $10 for the 4th registration.
Special Requests
Can I request that my child be on the same team as another child?
Yes. As with the coach request, there is a special request field on the online registration form and printed registration form. Please note that this does not guarantee that the players will be assigned to the same team. We will attempt to accommodate all requests. Please understand that unfortunately, we may not be able to accommodate all requests. Additionally, please note that only one special request per player will be considered.
Can I request a particular coach?
Yes. There is a special request field on the online registration form and printed registration form. Please note that this does not guarantee that a player will be assigned to the requested coach. We will attempt to accommodate all requests. Please understand that unfortunately, we may not be able to accommodate all requests.
Can I request that my child be placed on a different team than last year?
Yes. All requests will be considered. Please note that
a reassignment request cannot be used in conjuction with a coach request.
Players will be reassigned to a team on a space available basis. Please print
and complete the Team Reassignment
Request Form and mail to the address listed on the form. The form must be
recieved by July 10th. The free Adobe Acrobat Reader is required to view and print the form.

Can I request that my child play down an age division?
Yes. Playing down is allowed for the following reasons:
- Mentally or Physically challenged
- Physical disability
- Medical issues that prohibit age appropriate play.
If any of these apply please do the following:
- We must have a letter from the child's doctor stating the medical, physical or mental challenge. It must include the doctors recommendation to play at a younger age division.
- Additionally, we need a letter from the parents/guardians stating the need to play down and why.
Please send your paperwork to SCYSC, PO Box 815, Stanwood, WA 98292. Paperwork
needs to received before team formation on July 10th.
I live outside the Stanwood/Camano Island School District boundaries, can my child still play?
These requests will be handled on a case by case basis. It is our wish to provide all children an opportunity to learn and enjoy the sport of soccer. Requests will be considered with this in mind.
