PARENT FAQ

Parent and Registration FAQ's

Will players and coaches have to wear masks?

While we expect some loosening of the restrictions (As of June 1st, 2021) as the Fall Season approaches, we will follow the current guidelines set by Washington Youth Soccer.  The current guidelines can be found here and are subject to change: WYS Return to Play Guidelines

Can I request a particular coach?

Yes. There is a special request field on the online registration form. Please note that this does not guarantee that a player will be assigned to the requested coach. We will attempt to accommodate all requests. Please understand that, unfortunately, we may not be able to accommodate all requests.

Why do you need a birth certificate?

Verification of age is required by Washington Youth Soccer. The registrar will verify the name and date of birth entered on the registration form matches the birth certificate or other valid form of identification noted on page 9 RG-3.5 of the WYS Bylaws. The birth certificate is automatically deleted by the system after 6 months. The DOB is locked in to the player’s account information so a birth certificate is only required when creating the account, not every year.

Can I request that my child be on the same team as another child?

Yes. As with the coach request, there is a special request field on the online registration form. Please note this does not guarantee that the player(s) will be assigned to the same team. We will attempt to accommodate all requests. Please understand that, unfortunately, we may not be able to accommodate all requests.

Can I request that my child play up to the next age division?

Yes. All requests will be considered. There is a question on the registration form for play up players, a reason MUST be given if requesting to play up.

***A new play up request must be indicated EVERY year, the registrar will not place

them on a higher age group without this question being filled out during registration***

Can I request that my child play down an age division?

Yes. Playing down is allowed for the following reasons:

- Mentally or Physically challenged

- Physical disability

- Medical issues that prohibit age appropriate play.

If any of these apply please do the following:

- We must have a letter from the child's doctor stating the medical, physical or mental challenge. It must include the doctors recommendation to play at a younger age division.

- Additionally, we need a letter from the parents/guardians stating the need to play down and why.

Please send your letters to the Registrar at [email protected]

I live outside the Stanwood/Camano Island School District boundaries, can my child still play?

These requests will be handled on a case by case basis. It is our wish to provide all children an opportunity to learn and enjoy the sport of soccer. Requests will be considered with this in mind.

When will games be played?

Micro games are typically played at Heritage Park on Saturdays

Rec games are scheduled by NCYSA

For 2021, NCYSA has released the following Game Day Schedule:

U9-U12
Will play Saturdays and Sundays, typically most teams will play 6-7 Saturdays and 3-4 Sunday games
U13-U15 Will have an all Saturday schedule
U16-U19 Will have an all Sunday schedule

One game per weekend is the norm but divisions with an odd number of teams may have a BYE or play two games in a weekend, one Saturday and one Sunday. Sunday games will NOT start before 12:00 PM

*** Please remember all special requests must be submitted by their deadline ***
